Polygon Design works with award winning artist

Polygon Design is excited to be working with McCahon House resident, and now Wallace Award winning artist, Richard Lewer and his dealer Jennifer Buckley of Oedipus Rex Gallery, on Lewer's next art catalogue.

The catalogue will be released to accompany Lewer's exhibition to be held at the McCahon house studio 15th November - 23rd of November 2008. The works look to be an exciting mix of themes drawn from the local environment and the legacy of Colin McCahon.

Julian Schnabel: Christs Last Day

When planning my trip to London in May 2008 I read a rave review of Julian Schnabel's exhibition at his dealer gallery on Timeout.com and so when I arrived I found my way to the gallery on Dover St. If you've seen Schnabel's recent film 'The Diving Bell and the Butterfly', there is a strong connection between the films opening graphics and the large scale X-ray imagery used in the exhibited works.
The Polygon bookshelf now has a new art catalogue all the way from the polished streets of London's West End.

Design Talks Launch

I had the opportunity to attend the inaugural Design Assembly held at AUT Design School last month, organised by Auckland graphic designer Louise Kellerman.

The speakers that night were Kate Alexander on 'The democratisation of ideas', Shaun Lee on 'Message cognition and design' and Welby Ings, on 'Marriage of the impossible: creativity and improbable connection'.

The intiative to create a local forum specifically for the discussion of graphic design related issues and theory is very exciting, and one I intend to support wholeheartedly.
